To: All ESC Software Users
From: ESC User Group Steering Committee
Date: September 13, 2007
On behalf of the ESC User Group Steering Committee, it is my great pleasure to announce eCONNECTION, a new tool that is now available to all ESC software users. eCONNECTION is a list-server-based Question and Answer Forum. Its purpose is to link our User Group to a network forum for problem solving, questions and answers. It is a tool that I have used in other areas of business and I believe it will have a good fit with our needs. Good communications with each other throughout the year is essential and eCONNECTION will make our personal connections stronger and as a group more efficient. No more waiting to get answers; they are as close as a click away with eCONNECTION.
Here’s how it works. After you have signed up for a subscription to eCONNECTION you will be added to the “active” list of members. It is a “private” list, but a rule of thumb is never put anything in an email that you wouldn’t want broadcast on the 6 o’clock news; always keep that in mind. Anytime you submit a question to the server your question will be immediately distributed to all members subscribed as an email message. Anyone responding to the question sends an email message back to the server and it too is immediately distributed to all members subscribed. So, even if you didn’t ask the question, you will be aware of it and the answers that were received. All questions and answers are archived automatically by month and stored on the server for you to see. So questions that were asked 6 months ago are still available for viewing or printing. Notification of problems and fixes should flow easily using this system, and keep all of us from “re-inventing” a solution, when a fix has already been discovered.
A small annual fee will be charged for an annual subscription. These monies will be accounted as revenues to the ESC User Group and will be used to offset the cost of meeting expenses. This will allow us to keep our meeting registration fees low and provide value for attendees. ESC has agreed to provide administrative support for group access to eCONNECTION. A registration form is attached to sign up for the service. The Annual Fee has been set by the Steering Committee at $100 per individual. Initially we are limiting subscriptions to two individuals from the same company (a primary and secondary user), but if you have different needs, please contact me or anyone on the steering committee to discuss.
Instructions are available here and we will be discussing eCONNECTION during our Fall User Group meeting in New Orleans. I hope you find this service worthwhile and helpful. Stay connected with eCONNECTION.
Sincerely,
John W. Moffett
